Roll formers, there are many tiers of quality, and styles to choose from. Many decisions must be made depending on your needs and needs of your customers, AG panel and PBR panel are the 2 main and most popular profiles of metal panels for residential, agricultural and commercial. We sell a Double Deck machine that will produce both of these profiles in one machine. Most panels are made in 29 gauge and 26 gauge depending on building codes in your area. Panels are both made to cover 36 inches, AG panels start with a 40 7/8" coils and PBR panels start with a 43-inch coil. Ag panels ribs are 3/4" high while the PBR ribs are 1 1/4" tall so the extra width is required to get the 36" coverage.
Trim machines also come in many tiers of quality, and styles. 10ft or 20ft press brakes are the main pieces for manual trim lines it does the bends using hydraulic pistons. Decoilers are necessary for slitters and slitter/cutters to cut the sheets or coils down to widths you need to make the trim pieces. Hemmers are used to put a 1/2" hem on the edges for certain trim profiles. The hemmer machine also will do the 3/4" kickout on certain trim profiles.
Trim starts as a coil rolled into a slitter or slitter/cutter, where the blades are set to cut the widths that are required to make each trim profile. Regular slitters are made to cut sheets that are precut to length. Slitter/cutters use a decoiler and are post cut with a hydraulic shear and some have the option of applying plastic protective film to stop scratches during the bending process. The pieces depending on which trim profiles then will get hemmed or get a kick out on them. Once this step is done it goes to press brake to get the final bends to make the finished profile. Any trim profile can be made by the roll forming process, machines use pre or post cut material, which makes an exact profile over and over. The drawback is shop footprint and cost.
